Description

A travelogue through the Mediterranean, Roman Holiday features impressions of Italy and Spain, complete with folk songs and dances folded into the musical fabric. Tchaikovsky’s “Capriccio Italien” is a portrait of his trip to Rome using familiar Italian tunes. Paired with Ottorino Respighi’s urban nature tour “The Pines of Rome,” and “Fandangos,” a meditation on Spanish dance forms by Puerto Rican composer Robert Sierra, this concert paints a melodic landscape for audiences of all ages.
