The Moss House is excited to introduce our summer programs for Summer 2024!

We have six weeks of fun and immersive camps that blend nature, education, friendship, and fun so your child can have their best summer yet! Our camps, held at Lower Highland Park in Endwell, NY, are for children ages 5-12 and offer something for every kind of camper- from bushcraft to mythology, from Vikings to creative and sensory. Each week has its own theme and over 15 different activities to keep your child engaged all day long. All summer camps will run Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm, and are for children ages 5-12. All summer camps are $175/week; discounts available for families enrolling more than one child. Space is extremely limited to ensure quality experiences for all campers!

At The Moss House, we believe wholeheartedly in children.  We believe in child-led learning and child-led play, and offering opportunities that help them become their best selves, whatever that may look like. Our summer camps are a blend of guided activities and independent play, providing a framework for nature education and holding the space for children to play and make news friends and actually enjoy their summer!

Our daily schedule for camp includes:

Activities are designed for a wide range of ages and abilities, and will be offered to every camper. Games are adaptable for all types of abilities, and encourage teamwork and sportsmanship over competition. Our goal is for your child to enjoy nature and the outdoors, have the best summer, and send them home happy!

FULL Nature Explorer’s Camp: June 24-28
Does your child love to be outdoors? Spend time watching a caterpillar inch across the grass? Climb trees? Love every animal they meet? Nature Explorer’s Camp offers your child over 15 immersive activities designed to develop a deep appreciation for nature, learn about conservation and how to act locally, and find joy and peace in connecting with the outdoors. Throughout the week, we will work through learning about insects, plant life, small mammals, reducing our effect on our local environment, creating art with nature and found materials, using nature to help regulate our feelings, build friendships, and more. This camp is scheduled June 24-28, and runs from 8am-4pm at Lower Highland Park.  We meet at Shelter 7 every day before heading into the wooded areas to reach our home base.  While the focus of this camp is nature, we will spend time on the playground and take a carousel ride every day.

FULL Vikings Camp: July 8-12
Skald! Viking was a job only for the bravest and toughest, and wow was it fun! Join us for a week of living like a Viking, and learn all about navigating, raiding, fighting, primitive cooking, deciphering runes, sailing a long boat, and more. This camp will balance physical activities with crafting and building, leadership opportunities and teamwork, and challenging games with relaxing ones. This camp is scheduled June 24-28, and runs from 8am-4pm at Lower Highland Park. We meet at Shelter 7 every day before heading into the wooded areas to reach our home base. While we will spend most of our time living like its 799, we will also come back to 2024 every day to enjoy the playground and carousel!

FULL Bushcraft Camp: July 15-19
Bushcraft Camp is our closest camp to our typical Forest School activities and a great way for your child to see what Forest School is all about! We’ll have a super busy week with over 15 different activities that will give your child basic survival skills, plenty of opportunities for teamwork, a new respect for the woods, and a handful of new useful skills like woodworking and fire building. This camp is scheduled July 15-19, and runs from 8am-4pm at Lower Highland Park.  We meet at Shelter 7 every day before heading into the wooded areas to reach our home base. While the focus of this camp is bushcraft, we will spend time on the playground and take a carousel ride every day.

FULL Sensory Lover’s Camp: August 5-9
Slippery paint, spinning and swinging, rolling and twisting, climbing and jumping, making a mess or playing with soap we are engaging all of our senses in this camp! If your child cannot get enough physical input or tends to shy away from getting messy or loud, this camp will excite and challenge their expectations about sensory play! This camp offers over 15 different activities perfect for sensory seekers and avoiders alike, and everyone will work within their own comfort zone (or get support from us as they work past their comfort zone!). We’ll be sure to take time each day to enjoy the playground and carousel. This camp meets August 5-9, from 8am-4pm at Lower Highland Park.  We’ll meet at Shelter 7 every day before heading into the wooded area to our home base.

FULL Mythology Camp: August 12-16
Do you dream of finding out you are a demi-god? Love to read the myths of Ancient Greece, Old Norse, or Ancient Egypt? Daydream of riding a pegasus or defeating a Cyclops? Join us for a hero’s journey for a week of Mythology Camp. We’ll explore and journey as heroes, fight and defeat the monsters, practice shapeshifting with camouflage, try our hands at magic, and celebrate an epic week of magic-making and learning what it takes to be a hero.  Throughout the week we’ll learn Greek, Norse, and Egyptian mythology through challenging activities all designed to bring out the hero in you. You can count on carving a magic wand, working on a team to design a forest troll that will greet park visitors, make magic potions, and play an epic game of Capture the Flag. This camp takes place August 12-16, 8am-4pm at Lower Highland Park.  We meet at Shelter 7 before heading into the woods to start our hero’s journey.  The heroes will also take a well-deserved break each day to visit the playground and carousel.

FULL Camp Camp: Everything but the Sleepaway: August 19-23
Camp Camp: Everything but the Sleepaway gives the feeling of sleepaway camp, with the comfort of sleeping in your own bed. Campers can expect to try out all the typical camp activities- learning silly songs and skits, playing cooperative games, arts & crafts, making friendship bracelets, writing letters home, making bug juice, making new friends, and more. We’ll enjoy over 15 unique activities this week, culminating in a last day camp dance and celebration. Your child will take away new teamwork skills, friendships, and the experience to feel confident when they’re ready for sleepaway camp! This is also a great camp for those who have never attended any camps before.
