American Red Cross Babysitting & Child Care Training at West Family Y
Is your youth or teen interested in starting their first job, earning extra spending money, or learning how to safely care for younger siblings? The YMCA of Broome County is hosting a 3-part American Red Cross Babysitting and Child Care Training Course this October! Designed for ages 11–16, this course provides hands-on knowledge and essential emergency response skills to build confident caregivers.

What Participants Will Learn
- Babysitting Leadership: Safety, responsibility, and basic business tips.
- Emergency Preparedness: Fire, water, and household emergency response.
- Child Care Basics: Diapering, feeding, and safe sleep practices.
- Developmental Play: Age-appropriate toys, games, and routines.
- First Aid & CPR: Pediatric CPR, choking intervention, and bleeding control.
⚠️ Certification Note: All 3 classes are required to receive the American Red Cross Babysitter Training Completion Certificate. No make-up classes are available.
