We took our kids to check it out and it was an immediate hit. After donning their kid-sized Funky Beez aprons and ice cream caps, they headed straight into "pretend-ville," serving up all of the sweet stuff.
A Sweet Culinary Adventure
This interactive exhibit—sponsored by the beloved local Vestal ice cream shop, Funky Beez—has turned the museum’s former "Power of Play" space into a vibrant, hands-on culinary wonderland.
The attention to detail is fantastic. The shoppe features a classic counter with stools, a dedicated to-go window, and all the "ingredients" a budding chef could need. My kids had a great time whipping up custom milkshakes, constructing hot fudge sundaes, and assembling classic banana splits. The ice cream tubs are actually filled with colorful shower loofahs—such a cute touch!
My favorite part was just watching my kids run the business. They were very serious about their roles, charging me $100 for a few scoops, carefully punching the total into the register, and bidding me a polite "Have a nice day and enjoy your ice cream!" before starting on their next order.

This is a temporary exhibit that is open now through the rest of the summer. It is included with your general museum admission.
