Healthy Kids Day is Back at the YMCA (and it’s FREE!)

Family Fun Alert: Head Over to the West Family YMCA in Johnson City on April 18th from 10AM-1PM

By Kate Fletcher, Macaroni KID Binghamton Publisher March 31, 2026

Looking for a way to get the kids out of the house and into the spirit of spring? Mark your calendars! The YMCA of Broome County is hosting Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 18th. It’s completely FREE for the whole community.

For over 30 years, YMCAs across the country have used this day to jumpstart healthy habits before summer vacation begins. It’s all about inspiring families to stay active, keep learning, and build healthy habits all summer long.

What’s Happening?

The West Family YMCA will be packed with high-energy activities and hands-on learning. Whether your child is a budding athlete, a creative artist, or a future community hero, there’s something for everyone:

  • Get Moving: Join in on a family dance session (10–11AM) or show off your skills with soccer (11AM – 1PM).
  • Get Creative & Inspired: YMCA staff will lead hands-on STEM projects, planter making, and a nutrition game to show kids that healthy habits can be fun.
  • Money Matters: Visit the Citizens Bank station for a fun financial literacy activity designed for kids.
  • Meet Your Local Heroes & Icons: Connect with community partners and catch a special appearance by the Binghamton Rumble Ponies mascots, Rowdy & Ruby!

Featured Highlights:

  • Sheriff's Department: On-site Child Safety ID cards
  • Johnson City Fire Department: Explore a real fire truck
  • Johnson City Police Department: Check out a police cruiser
