We have a delicious holiday announcement from The Discovery Center of the Southern Tier! It’s time to dust off those aprons and baker's hats because the annual gingerbread display is coming, and they are calling all community members to participate!
This year, the competition is going global with the theme: "A Village of Gingerbread – A Magical Trip Around the World!"

About the Competition
Whether you're a seasoned chef, a supermarket team, a scout troop, a business, a classroom, or just an everyday gingerbread enthusiast, anyone can participate! The Discovery Center invites all children, adults, individuals, businesses, or groups to use their imagination and creativity to bake and decorate a building or landmark from anywhere around the world.
This is your chance to make a little magic for a spectacular, oh-so-yummy holiday display that the entire community will enjoy!
Key Dates for the Gingerbread Village
Mark your calendars! The deadline for entries is Monday, December 1, 2025. All participants are invited to the Grand Opening celebration on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 4-7pm, which coincides with the First Friday Free Admission Night. After the opening, you can come and delight in the gingerbread village exhibit through Sunday, January 4, 2026.
