Binghamton's only hands-on children's museum, The Discovery Center of the Southern Tier, has done it again! Every year, this beloved spot transforms into a truly magical Halloween wonderland with its seasonal exhibit, Halloween Hallows. We went to check it out, and trust them when they say: Beware! Fun is everywhere!

Halloween Hallows is the perfect way to celebrate the season with little ones—it's not too creepy, but so much fun! Here’s a peek at the fantastic activities waiting for your family:

A Hauntingly Good Time Inside the Museum

The museum floor has been completely reimagined with playful Halloween themes:

  • The Not-Too-Spooky Haunted House: Explore the haunted house designed just right for kids—all the fun without the fright!
  • The Mad Scientist’s Lab: Climb the tower, pass by some happy monsters, and enter the mad scientist's lab to learn all about anatomy.
  • Graveyard: The area surrounding the tower is filled with skeletons and comical tombstones.
  • Magical Adventures: Take a "ride" in the magical pumpkin coach, pretend to stir up powerful magic potions, and test your wits trying to solve fun Halloween riddles.
  • Costume Fun: While you're invited to come dressed up, there is a whole chest of costumes available for kids who want to try a new look!
  • Vampires, Ghosts, & Monsters, Oh My!: Whether you're presenting a puppet show with Frankenstein, tossing pumpkins into a monster's mouth, or solving Halloween riddles around Dracula's castle, there's ghoulish fun around every corner of the Museum.

Outdoor Adventures in the Story Garden

After exploring the museum exhibits, the fun continues outside! Head out to the Story Garden to enjoy the whimsical decorations throughout. Make sure to stop by the Misfit Pumpkin Patch to explore gourds of all shapes, sizes, and colors.

Remember, the Story Garden is always free and open to the public daily from dawn to dusk, so even if you can’t make it into the museum, you can still enjoy the festive atmosphere outside.
