A Sneak Peek at Dinosaurs & Cookies: Coming to Binghamton August 24!

1 day pop-up event with deep dish cookies and animatronic dinosaurs comes to Binghamton

Hey Binghamton families! We heard the buzz about "Dinosaurs & Cookies," the popular food truck pop-up event coming to our neck of the woods, and we just had to get the scoop for you. The event is happening on Sunday, August 24th, right here in Binghamton, but it made a stop in Ithaca today. We zipped over to the Lowe's parking lot there to give you the inside scoop so you can be fully prepared for tomorrow's prehistoric fun!

First things first, let's talk about the setup. Don't expect a theme park-style extravaganza. It's a fun, no-frills experience—a few trailers filled with animatronic dinosaurs, all set up right in the Lowe's parking lot. But for little kids, this is more than enough to get their imaginations roaring! The excitement of seeing life-size dinosaurs moving and roaring is a definite thrill.

The entry fee is a unique twist: for $5 per person, you get a large, delicious deep-dish cookie, and that cookie is your ticket to the dinosaur exhibit. Everyone, regardless of age, needs a cookie to enter. You can also get six cookies for $25.

Once inside, my kids were immediately captivated. They rode a couple of the stationary dinosaurs, a cute little photo op. They also spent time at the fossil dig pit, excitedly uncovering  fossils in the sand. But the main event was definitely the animatronic dinosaurs including:

  • Two massive T-Rexes
  • A gigantic Triceratops
  • Five awesome Raptors
  • A mighty Stegosaurus
  • A Spinosaurus
  • Two Dimorphodontia
  • A 10 foot T-Rex
  • Several baby dinosaurs (Triceratops, Stygimoloch, Allosaurus, and a Raptor)

The moving, roaring dinos gave my kids a fun and memorable walk around.

And now for the tasty part—the cookies! While we saved ours for a post-dinner treat at home, we got a chance to try a few of the famous deep-dish cookies from I Heart Cookies. We chose three different kinds to review for you:

  • Monster Cookie: Our four-year-old was a little bummed that the ones we got didn't have the signature candy eyeball like the one pictured on the menu, but that disappointment was quickly forgotten upon the first bite. It was a sweet, chocolatey, and very yummy deep-dish cookie covered in his favorite rainbow M&M candies.
  • Milk Chocolate Chip: A classic for a reason! It was a gooey, chocolatey perfection—everything you want in a chocolate chip cookie.
  • Snickerdoodle Cinnamon Roll: This one was a delightful surprise. It had the familiar cinnamon-sugar taste of a snickerdoodle with the added sweetness and gooeyness of a cinnamon roll.

All three were a hit—sugar-filled sweetness you'd hope for from a deep-dish cookie.

So, get ready, Binghamton! "Dinosaurs & Cookies" is coming to the parking lot of Lowe's at 1318 Front St. in Binghamton on Sunday, August 24th, from 12:00-6:00pm. It's a great opportunity for a fun, low-key outing with the kids. It's a perfect combination of prehistoric fun and a sweet treat!
