Get ready for a musical adventure to the land of myths and legends! The Binghamton Philharmonic invites you to their upcoming concert, "In the Beginning," on March 29th at 7:30 PM at the Broome County Forum Theatre in Downtown Binghamton.

This concert is a captivating exploration of music inspired by the folklore and landscapes of the Far North. Imagine soaring melodies and powerful harmonies that paint pictures of icy landscapes and ancient tales.

Here's what you can expect:

  • Finnish Folklore: Hear the music of Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaraa, inspired by the creation myth from the Kalevala, the national epic of Finland. Think Gandalf, from The Lord of the Rings, with a magical singing voice!
  • National Pride: Experience the joy and energy of Jean Sibelius's Symphony No. 3, a celebration of Finnish identity.
  • Piano Power: Be amazed by acclaimed pianist Andrew Russo as he tackles Rachmaninoff's incredibly challenging Piano Concerto No. 3. This piece blends Russian folk melodies and church bells into a breathtaking musical experience.

Tickets for the performance range from $28 to $69. Kids 17 and under get in free thanks to M&T Bank, Symphonic Series Sponsor.

Reserve your tickets today! Head over to binghamtonphilharmonic.org or call the box office at 607-723-3931 to secure your seats. Then, listen to the playlist and prepare to be moved by this extraordinary program of great music from the North Lands!
