KoperniKids Returns with STEM Fun for Youth Ages 3 to 6

Fun, hands-on learning opportunities for ages 3-6 at Kopernik Observatory & Science Center

Calling all pint-sized scientists! Get ready for a hands-on adventure in the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) with KoperniKids at the Kopernik Observatory & Science Center in Vestal! Designed for children aged 3 to 6, KoperniKids offers a fun and engaging way to spark a love for learning.

Each session is a unique exploration filled with exciting activities, experiments, and songs that will have your little one eager to discover the wonders of STEM. Imagine building your own musical instrument, exploring the power of wind energy, or even learning about hibernation in your pajamas! That’s just a taste of the fun that awaits at KoperniKids.

Here's the scoop:

  • Where: Kopernik Observatory & Science Center, 698 Underwood Road, Vestal, NY
  • When: Saturdays, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM, once a month from February through June.
  • Who: Children aged 3-6. One adult is required to stay with each child during the program.
  • Cost: Kopernik Members: $15; Non-Members: $20 per session per child (parent/grandparent are free).
  • Registration: Space is limited. Visit kopernik.jumbula.com/kopernikids to reserve your spot.

Mark your calendars for these exciting sessions:

  • February 22, 2025: Pajama Party: Get cozy and explore the fascinating world of hibernation! Which animals sleep all winter long? What happens while they’re hibernating? Come dressed in your PJs for this fun, educational experience.
  • March 8, 2025: Wind Energy: March winds are blowing! Discover the power of wind and how it can be converted into energy. Get ready for some hands-on projects that will have you harnessing the wind like a pro.
  • April 12, 2025: Exploring Sound: Dive into the science of sound with fun and easy experiments. Create your own musical instrument and learn how sound waves work.
  • May 10, 2025: Feathered Friends: Spring is in the air, and the birds are singing! Learn about different bird species and why their beaks are so diverse. You’ll even get to make a bird feeder to take home and continue your birdwatching adventures.
  • June 14, 2025: Plenty of Plants: Discover the vital role plants play in our lives. Explore what plants need to survive and take home your own plant to nurture over the summer.
