Get ready for a season of exploration and celebration at The Discovery Center, located at 60 Morgan Rd in Binghamton, NY!
ADMISSION
If you're not members yet, admission to the Museum is $10 for visitors over the age of 12 months. The Museum offers discounts for EBT cardholders, active duty military personnel, veterans, and their household family members. And, [almost] every first and third Friday of the month is Free Admission Night when everyone can enjoy three hours (4-7pm) of unlimited play for $0.
Here's a look at what exciting events and activities are happening this December:
1. Discover Hanukkah
Join The Discovery Center for a special "Discover Hanukkah" event from 1-3pm on Sunday, December 15! Sing along to festive songs, create fun Hanukkah crafts, enjoy delicious treats, and celebrate the Festival of Lights with your family. Admission is free for Jewish families who pre-register online and for Discovery Center members.
2. Gingerbread Friends Scavenger Hunt
Calling all detectives! Now through January 6, put your observation skills to the test with our Gingerbread Friends Scavenger Hunt. Search the museum for our giant gingerbread people and spot all their delightful details. Find them all and get a sweet treat at the Front Desk!
3. Santa's New Workshop & Gingerbread Village
Now through January 6, step into the magic of the holidays at Santa's Workshop! See what the elves are working on, tinker with some toys yourself, and even take a seat in Santa's sleigh! Explore the charming Gingerbread Village, filled with the delicious aroma of gingerbread houses. Vote for your favorite creation to choose the winner!
4. Free Admission Night
Enjoy free admission to The Discovery Center on December 20th from 4-7pm thanks to the Broome County Arts Council's United Cultural Fund. (January's Free Admission Nights are scheduled for January 3 and 17, 2025.)
5. Winter Break
Get ready for an arctic adventure! The Discovery Center is offering special Winter Break programming from December 26th to 27th and January 2nd to 3rd. Learn about wildlife conservation and the importance of ecosystem diversity through engaging animal crafts, arctic storytelling, games, and hands-on experiments. Activities run from 11am-1pm and are free with museum admission.
6. New Year's Eve Extravaganza
Ring in the New Year with a fun-filled party at The Discovery Center from 10am-2pm on Monday, December 30th! Learn how children celebrate in different countries like Japan, Scotland, and Brazil. Enjoy music, crafts, and ring in the New Year with balloon drops at 11am, 12pm, and 1pm!
