Get ready to set sail on a new adventure at The Discovery Center! The museum is set to open the first phase (of three) of the Pirate Ship Playground, a significant expansion of the Story Garden, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
This exciting new play area will be built down the hill from the Little Blue Truck and the Three Bears House at the former location of the basketball court. It will provide a free outdoor space for the entire community, as well as a much-needed playground for The Discovery Center's preschool students. Construction of the Pirate Ship Playground will begin on October 8, 2024.
When all three phases are complete, this pirate-themed playground will feature a towering pirate ship with slides and ladders, a treasure chest filled with surprises, an accessible dinghy for all children, Peter Pan's iconic house, a bridge for exploring, and covered benches for a rest.
