Earn a FREE Book with the Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program

Here's a chance for kids in grades 1-6 to snag a FREE book just for reading! July 1 - Aug. 31, 2024

Summer is almost here, but that doesn't mean the learning has to stop. This year, Barnes & Noble's Summer Reading Program is back and offering a chance for kids in grades 1-6 to snag a FREE book just for reading!

Here's the Scoop:

  1. Grab your Summer Reading Journal:  Download the 2024 Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Journal online or head to your local Barnes & Noble and pick one up for free!
  2. Dive into 8 Books: You can choose ANY eight books you like! Read library books, borrow from friends, or select from your own collection.
  3. Record Your Journey: As you read each book, jot down the title, author, and the part that YOU loved the most in the Reading Journal.
  4. Claim Your Prize: Once you've finished eight books and filled out your journal, head to Barnes & Noble between July 1st and August 31st, 2024.
  5. Choose a FREE Book:  Present your completed journal and choose a brand new book from a special selection – it's your FREE reward for all your summer reading fun!

Barnes and Noble has a dozen titles for each age group to choose from:

GRADES 1 & 2:
Band Camp! 1: All Together Now! by Brian “Smitty” Smith

GRADES 3 & 4:
The Area 51 Files by Julie Buxbaum
Big Nate Goes Bananas! by Lincoln Peirce
The Chocolate Touch by Patrick Skene Catling
The First Cat in Space Ate Pizza by Mac Barnett & Shawn Harris

GRADES 5 & 6:
Daughter of the Deep by Rick Riordan
Hummingbird by Natalie Lloyd
Jawbreaker by Christina Wyman
Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson
Ungifted by Gordon Korman
