The BC SAFE Coalition is once again inviting you to use chalk to beautify community surfaces with messages and images of hope and resilience. The 4th Annual "Chalk the Walk" campaign aims to start a conversation about mental health and let people know that it is okay to not be okay. Beginning on September 10, World Suicide Prevention Day, and continuing through September 16, all are encouraged to share photos of inspirational chalk art in honor of suicide awareness and prevention.
Start conversations about mental health by posting pictures of your chalk art on Facebook and tag @BCSAFECoalition #BroomeHasHope
You can submit your chalk art photos online at gobroomecounty.com/mh/bcsafe for a chance to win $100 in one of four categories: Most Inspiring Message; Best Use of Color; Most Imaginative; and Best Group Collaboration. The contest opens September 10 and ends September 16, 2023 at 11:59 PM. Winners will be announced at the Gallery Art Show which will place on September 26 from 6-7:30pm at the Broome County Public Library and feature all of the shared CHALK THE WALK Community Art.
If you need chalk, you can get some for FREE at Broome County Career & Community Services Center in Johnson City, Broome County Public Library in Binghamton, or Clear Path for Veterans in Vestal. For additional sites, stay tuned to BC SAFE's website, email bcsafe@broomecountyny.gov or call 607-778-1146.
