DICK'S House of Sport Offers Families New Spaces to Play

New store in Oakdale Commons features turf field, sports simulators, rock climbing wall, and more

DICK's House of Sport in Oakdale Commons is now open and is sure to be a popular destination for local sports enthusiasts. With an impressive 140,000 square feet, the Johnson City store is now the largest DICK's location in the world. What makes this worthy of sharing with our Macaroni KID families? Because it is more than a sporting goods store; it's an interactive space where you can practice your skills!

FEATURES

Golf Space: five hole indoor putting green and three golf simulator bays
The Cage: experience soccer, lacrosse, softball, baseball simulator with any famous ball field you want to play at (also capable of artificial ice flooring with ability to measure hockey puck speed)
House of Cleats: turf space surrounded by cleats with bleacher seating
Rock Climbing Wall: 37ft wall with 360 degrees to climb and ten tracks; windows surround the entire top for an amazing view (for ages 6+)
The Field: 120x90ft outdoor turf field surrounded by rubber track where 12 laps = 1 mile (ice rink will cover turf in winter)
Equipment Services: golf club repair, bike tune up, glove steaming, restringing lacrosse heads, etc.

Many of the spaces in the facility are available for private events. While The Field is free to access when not rented, other features like The Cage and Rock Climbing Wall are currently available for a fee of $10 for 15 minutes. The store will be hosting a variety of free classes and public events in the coming months including "Frightfully Fun Fridays" in October.

The facility will likely appeal most to adults and kids over the age of six. Families with young children can also enjoy Sports Matter, the new interactive and immersive indoor and outdoor sports exhibit at The Discovery Center.
