Swimming Lessons Guide

By Melanie Nolan/ Kat Troy July 19, 2018

It’s never too late to get your child started in swimming lessons! The Jewish Community Center offers swimming lessons year-round, with indoor heated facilities and certified instructors. Group swim lessons are available for kids six months, up to 15 years with small class ratios. Groups focus on developing age-appropriate technique and building confidence in the water. Lessons run Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Sunday mornings. For dates, times, and prices of group swim lessons, please contact the JCC Main Office at (607)-724-2417. Private swim lessons can be scheduled at your convenience. For private swim lesson scheduling, or any other questions about our aquatics department or programs, please contact Sidney VanTuyl, JCC Aquatics Coordinator, at SidneyV@binghamtonjcc.org.

If you’re looking for more in-depth or specialized swimming programs, the JCC is also offering two intensive swimming camps. Back to Basics Competitive Swim Camp, from August 13th-17th, focuses on the four strokes, getting your child ready for competitive swimming. Open to ages 8-15, exercises on technique and race strategy are conducted in and out of the pool by USA certified swim coach, Jamie Burns.

The JCC is also offering an Intro to Synchronized Swimming Camp. From August 20th-24th, kids from ages 6-12 will be taught beginning skills for synchronized swimming by nationally ranked synchronized swimmer, Emily Pullis. Exercises both in and out of the water will help swimmer build strength, flexibility, and stamina, as well as learning basic synchronized swimming moves. For information and registration for either camp, contact the JCC Main Office.
